Dolphin Browser lands $10mln in funding

MoboTap, developer of the mobile browser Dolphin Browser, recently revealed on its website that it will soon announce a new round of funding, which, according to an industry source, could reach $10 million and is reportedly led by Qualcomm.

There are 60 mln users of the Dolphin Browser at present. MoboTap has opened API ports to third-party developers, enabling developers to connect Dropbox, Evernote, Pocket, Wikipedia, and other web apps to the browser free of charge. The company has no plans to implement a revenue-sharing model with third-party developers.

The first version of the browser was released for Android in March 2010. MoboTap announced its first, eight-figure USD round of funding on July 19, 2011, from VCs including Sequoia Capital and Matrix Partners China.
