Qualcomm and Baidu's online video subsidiary, iQiyi, on Thursday released a new video-playback-optimized Qualcomm handset chip, the Snapdragon MSM8x25Q.

The chip, backed by iQiyi’s video playback technology, is designed to increase the clarity of videos played on low- to middle-end mobile handsets, as well as facilitatevideo downloading, according to Marbrige Consulting.

According to Qualcomm, the new chip will be put into circulation this year by the company's handset partners, including Lenovo, Samsung, HTC, Motorola, and Nokia.
